Staff Team
Staff Team
‘Antur Llain’ works in close partnership with AALA licensed activity providers ‘Activity Pembrokeshire’ and we pride ourselves on our joint team of instructors and domestic staff. Together we provide professional, safe, exciting experiences for all without losing that personal touch. We like to think of staff as family members who work as a team to provide outdoor activities of the highest quality.
Centre Manager
Gethin Williams, also ‘Activity Director’ or Activity Pembrokeshire.
After graduating from Aberystwyth University in 1982, Gethin taught PE, Science and Geography at The Greenhill School, Tenby before taking up post as Head of Geography and Outdoor Education at Netherwood Independent school. A change of direction saw him become Deputy Head of Centre and subsequently Head of Outdoor Education for Carmarthenshire County Council before starting his own business packaging school residential trips through ‘Activity Pembrokeshire’.
He was on the inaugural panel of the ‘Outdoor Education Advisor’s Panel (Wales)’ advising the Welsh Assembly Government on safety in adventure activities and was short listed for a place on the committee of ‘Sport Wales’.
Senior Instructor
Andy Booth joined us at Llain in 2020 having previously been Senior Instructor at three centres, the most recent under Gethin as Manager. Andy has a diverse set of skills and qualifications ideal for the post at a multi activity centre such as Llain and specialises in the Climbing activities.
Technical Advisor
Every Outdoor centre must have a TA whom visits a couple of times a year to share their expertise and knowledge as well as helping with training, technical advice and kit checks. Llain is vey fortunate to have Pablo Thorne as our TA and as a regular instrcuctor which is a huge benefit to the centre.
Freelance Staff
Llain has 20+ freelance staff on our books giving a very diverse set of skills and specialities including Mountain Leaders, Climbing Instructors, Archery GB instructors, highly qualified Kayak, Canoe and Paddle Board instructors. There are also Bushcraft and Forest school leaders and qualified teachers of relevant subjects including PE, Geography and the Sciences. All staff are DBS checked to an enhanced level and have current First Aid qualifications.
Catering Staff
Llain are delighted to have recruited the services of Head cook, Fernando Da Silva and his team as we believe that food is one of the most important aspects of an activity adventure. Fernando has previous experience running a Mediterranean themed restaurant locally in New Quay.
Activity Pembrokeshire are delighted to have redeployed its whole activity team to Llain from previous centres they have used, some having worked with Manager, Gethin Williams at up to three previous centres spanning 10 years or more. Steve is even a former Senior instructor at Llain and Andy has been SI at two previous centres.
We are very proud of the standard of the team that has evolved into, what is now the ‘Llain family’.
